English 10 Honors

This assignment has 2 parts:

1. Research a WWI weapon

2. Find and explain one poem--either against the war in Iraq or for war in general as assigned to you.

Note: Weapon research and Poem will be shown on a PowerPoint Presentation and saved to your Wiki page.. The Guidlines for Reading Poetry Chart will also be saved to the Wiki page.

Requirements:

  • Your page has been created for you and named as your first name, last initial
  • Click on your page located on the side bar
  • Click edit
  • Give your page a title that indicates your topic
  • When your PowerPoint is complete, upload it to this page (instructions below)
  • When your Guidelines for Reading Poetry chart is complete, upload it to this page (use same instructions)

PowerPoint Presentation (no more than 15 words per slide)

  • Title Slide
  • 5 slides on weapon
  • 1 slide on which you have copied and pasted the poems
  • 1 slide for MLA Work cited

Poems either against the war in Iraq or for war in general


  • Choose poems that no one else has chosen (First Come, First Serve)
  • Submit the titles to me
  • Copy and paste the poem to the last slide of your PowerPoint
  • Read Poem
  • Open the Guidelines for Reading Poetry chart (template below)
  • Copy and save it to Microsoft Word
  • Complete the Chart using your poem
  • Save it to your name on the network
  • Upload it to your page on the Wiki
  • You will be expected to read the poem when presenting your weapon to the class and analyze it for the class. You will not get full credit if you simply summarize the poem.
